Optimal Scooter size
Everything You Need to Know About the Right Size for Your Stunt Scooter
Are you unsure how high the handlebar of your stunt scooter should be? No worries – we’ll show you clearly and simply how to find the ideal handlebar height for you. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, these tips will prepare you perfectly.
Why Is the Right Handlebar Height So Important?
A handlebar that is too high or too low affects not only your riding technique but also your safety. With the optimal handlebar height you:
• improve your balance,
• have better control when riding and doing tricks,
• and prevent back and wrist pain.
Guidelines for Scooter Handlebar Height
A rough guideline is:
The handlebar height should be between your hips and your navel when you stand upright.
This helps you quickly estimate whether a scooter suits you or not.
How to Measure the Right Handlebar Height
Option 1: Direct Measurement
- Stand upright.
- Take a measuring tape or ruler.
- Measure the height from the ground to:
- Hips = lower limit
- Navel = upper limit
The handlebar should be within this range.
Option 2: Test With Your Scooter
If you already have a scooter:
• Stand on it,
• feel if you stay upright and relaxed while riding,
• the handlebar shouldn’t be too low (you lean forward) or too high (poor control during tricks).
Tip for Beginners
For beginners, we recommend:
• A slightly higher handlebar within the guideline,
• for more stability and control when learning to ride.
Pro Tip: Adjusting Handlebar Height
Stunt scooters do not have adjustable handlebars because they need to be stable for tricks. So choose the right height from the start – or swap the handlebar for one that fits you.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
• Handlebar at belly height for kids – too unstable
• Too small scooter = wrong posture → risk of injury
• Buying blindly without measuring
Better: Measure before buying, and if possible test in a specialty store.
Conclusion: The Right Handlebar Height – The Key to Fun & Safety
The optimal handlebar height is one of the most important factors when buying or assembling a stunt scooter. Beginners especially benefit from more control – and advanced riders pay attention to a sporty but comfortable posture.

Difference Chilli Spider HIC vs. SCS
Everything You Need to Know About the Difference Between Scooter Compression Systems
Riding a stunt scooter is fun – but to get the most out of your Chilli Pro Scooter, you should choose the right compression system. In this guide, we explain the difference between the Chilli Spider HIC and the SCS compression system and show you how to install them properly.
What is the difference between Spider HIC and SCS?
Chilli Spider HIC
• The Spider HIC is special because you don’t need a new fork if you want to switch to a different compression system.
• HIC means the handlebar has a slit responsible for the compression.
SCS Compression System
• The SCS system requires a special SCS clamp and a handlebar without a slit. It is mounted directly on the fork, creating a very strong and stable connection.
Step-by-step Guide: How to Install the Chilli Spider HIC System
Materials Needed:
• Deck with headset bearings already installed
• Fork
• Spider HIC ring
• Spider shim
• Top cap
• Screw
• Handlebar with slit
Installation:
- Prepare deck and fork: Assemble the deck and fork. Make sure the two bearings are already inserted.
- Attach spider shim: Fix the spider shim inside the fork where the grooves are. Press it down until it reaches the bearing.
- Tighten screw: Insert the screw through the shim and screw it into the fork. This compresses the Spider HIC system and holds everything tight.
- Insert top cap: Place the top cap on top to protect the bearings.
- Mount handlebar: Slide the handlebar with slit onto the fork and tighten the clamp. The slit allows the handlebar to compress around the fork. Watch the torque.
Done! Your Spider HIC system is installed and ready to use.
Step-by-step Guide: How to Install the SCS Compression System
Materials Needed:
• Deck with headset bearings
• Fork
• Ring for the SCS system
• SCS clamp
• Top cap
• Handlebar without slit
Installation:
- Prepare deck and fork: Attach the deck to the fork by inserting the two bearings.
- Attach ring: Insert the ring into the fork so it protects the bearing.
- Mount top cap: Slide the top cap onto the fork to protect the bearings.
- Attach SCS clamp: Pull the SCS clamp over the fork. Make sure the smaller diameter is positioned at the bottom of the clamp.
- Tighten screw: Insert the screw into the fork’s thread and tighten. The clamp will hold the fork firmly and compress the SCS compression system.
- Mount handlebar: Slide the handlebar without slit into the clamp and tighten the screws.
Done! Your SCS system is installed and ready for the ride.
Important Differences in Detail:

Correct Size and Fit
The brake must fit your scooter perfectly. Here’s an overview of common sizes:
• 100 mm: Fits all 3000 models.
• 110 mm: Standard size.
• 120 mm: Suitable for Reaper Reloaded (V2), Zero (V2), and Sub Zero models.
• 145 mm: Suitable for the Trooper model.
A brake that is too small can block the wheel, while one that’s too large increases the distance to the wheel, reducing braking performance.
Our tip: If you’re unsure, ask at a local store or contact us directly.
When and Why Should You Replace the Brake?
- Wear and tear:
Worn-out brakes compromise your safety and should be replaced. If the wear is too great, the brake can break. - Aesthetics:
Looking for a fresh look? Replacing the brake can give your scooter a new and fresh design.
Costs and Purchase Considerations
- Cost:

Is the handlebar of your stunt scooter too small? Do you want a new design, a different material, or simply more comfort while riding? Then it’s time for a handlebar swap – and we’ll show you how to do it easily!
What Do You Need to Replace the Handlebar on Your Stunt Scooter?
Before you start, check your tools:
• Allen key (usually size 5 or 6)
• New handlebar of your choice
• Shim (adapter) – only when switching from oversized to standard bar or depending on the compression system
Important Note: Check Your Compression System!
Not every handlebar fits every scooter! You need to know which compression system you use:
Compression System |
Suitable Handlebar Type |
HIC |
Oversized bar with slit |
SCS |
Bar without slit, possibly with shim |
IHC |
Standard bar with slit + shim |
So before buying, make sure to check diameter & slit, or your new handlebar won’t fit!
How to Replace the Handlebar on Your Stunt Scooter [Step-by-Step]
- Secure the scooter
Place your scooter steadily or have someone hold it for you. - Loosen the clamp
• Use the Allen key to loosen the clamp screws.
• Pull off the old handlebar. - Check the compression system
• Verify which system you have: HIC, SCS, or IHC.
• If switching from oversized to standard, install the shim. - Mount the new handlebar
• Carefully place the handlebar on the fork or compression system.
• Make sure it’s positioned correctly and aligned straight. - Tighten the clamp
• Tighten the clamp screws evenly (not too tight!). Observe the torque specifications.
• Done!
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Changing Handlebars
• Wrong diameter → handlebar doesn’t fit
• Ignoring compression system → handlebar is loose or unstable
• No shim used → incorrect fit
Always check which system and handlebar you need first. Compare measurements or get advice at a scooter shop if needed.
